The basics
What Counts as a Custom Balloon Installation?
If it hangs overhead, spans a room, takes a recognizable shape or carries a logo, it's an installation.
A custom installation is balloon decor designed for one specific space and built on-site, usually bigger or more structural than a standard arch, garland or column. Picture a ceiling of balloons over a dance floor, a cloud drifting above a head table, a 30 ft entrance for a store opening, an oversized mosaic number, a walk-through tunnel or a balloon version of a company logo. This is where balloon decor turns into balloon art.
Since every installation is made for one room, the process starts with measurements and a design rather than a price list. It's the right choice when the space is large, the event is high-profile, or you want something guests haven't seen before. For standard pieces, browse balloon arches, garlands, walls, columns and backdrops.
What we install
Types of Custom Balloon Installations
These are the builds Orlando venues, brands and hosts ask us about most.
Balloon ceilings
A balloon ceiling fills the space above the guests. It might be helium balloons resting against the ceiling with ribbons trailing down, air-filled balloons suspended upside down at staggered heights, or garlands swagged from wall to wall. Overhead balloons change the whole feel of a plain hall, gym or ballroom, which is why they're popular for prom, quinceañeras, weddings and holiday parties.
Hanging balloons, canopies and chandeliers
Suspended garlands over a banquet table, a canopy stretched above a dance floor or inside a tent, and balloons wound around a light fixture (or a hoop-built balloon chandelier) all lift the decor off the floor, so the room keeps its space for guests.
Balloon clouds
A balloon cloud is a soft, floating mass of white and clear balloons with an occasional pastel or metallic accent, hung over a table or used behind one. Cloud-nine themes, baby showers and airy wedding designs use them the most.
Balloon drops
A balloon drop lets hundreds of balloons fall from a net or bag overhead at a chosen moment: midnight on New Year's Eve, a gender reveal, a grand entrance, the end of a commencement party or a product launch. The net is rigged before guests arrive and released with a pull cord at the right second. Drops happen indoors and the balloons stay in the room, so they're a good replacement for releases, which Florida law no longer allows outdoors.
Balloon sculptures and balloon art
Sculptures shape balloons into something you recognize: an oversized number, a rocket, a flamingo, a pineapple, a cake, a mascot or a logo. For galleries, schools and brand events, they can be built life-size or larger.
Balloon trees, palm trees and topiaries
Balloon palms for luaus and pool parties, topiaries for formal events and balloon Christmas trees for lobbies and office parties are freestanding pieces that work like balloon columns with a shape on top.
Balloon tunnels
A tunnel is a row of arches set close together for guests to walk through. It makes a memorable wedding entrance, a school walkway, a 5K finish line or a ribbon-cutting path.
Balloon mosaics, number towers and marquee letters
A mosaic fills a number, letter or shape frame with small balloons, almost like pixels. Mosaic numbers and letters spell out an age, an initial or a class year, and marquee letters wrapped in balloons add light. They're among the pieces we're asked for most for birthdays and graduations.
Balloon wreaths and giant balloons
Balloon wreaths frame a front door or a welcome sign. Giant balloons, 36 inches and up and sometimes filled with confetti, create big moments for gender reveals, proposals and photo sessions.

Process
How We Plan a Custom Balloon Installation
Bigger builds take a little more planning. Here's how it goes.
- 1
Brief
Tell us the event, the date, the venue and what you're picturing. Photos, mood boards and brand guides all help.
- 2
Site details
We confirm the room size, ceiling height, rigging points, power, load-in times and house rules, either on a visit or from photos and measurements.
- 3
Design and quote
You receive a design plan and a written quote. Large builds are priced by scope, not by the foot.
- 4
Build day
We load in during the venue's window, build in place and walk the room with you before the doors open.
- 5
Strike
We take everything down at the end of the night or first thing the next morning, whichever the venue requires.
Venue rules worth asking about early: Orlando's resort and convention hotels commonly set fixed load-in and strike windows through the loading dock, ask vendors for proof of liability insurance (a certificate of insurance naming the hotel), limit helium tanks, prohibit tape on walls, and need approval before anything hangs from the ceiling. We sort these out before quoting so build day goes smoothly.
Pricing
What Does a Balloon Installation Cost in Orlando?
Custom installations start at $450 and scale with size and complexity.
| Installation | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 3 ft | $215 |
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 5 ft | $375 |
| Custom balloon installation | $450 |
| Marquee letter or number rental | $50 each |
| Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures | Custom quote |
Large builds are quoted after a site measure. Venue load-in rules and late-night strikes can add to the total.
What sets an installation's price: the area or length covered, how many balloons and what sizes, rigging and lift needs (ceiling height matters), helium, labor hours, overnight or after-hours load-in, the venue's insurance requirements, and a same-night strike. Send your venue and ceiling height and we'll scope it properly.

- Christmas and office holiday parties: balloon trees, snowy white-and-silver ceilings and lobby pieces, a fun twist in a city where winter means 70 degrees.
- Halloween: a big season in a city built around entertainment, with spooky sculptures, black-and-orange garlands and themed tunnels.
- Weddings: a cloud over the sweetheart table, a ceiling over the dance floor and an indoor balloon drop for the first dance or the send-off.

- Prom, homecoming and graduation: gym ceilings, entrance tunnels and class-year mosaics.
- Quinceañeras: a ceiling over the dance floor, a tunnel for the court's entrance and a mosaic of her initial.
- Birthdays: a drop when the candles go out at a 40th or 50th, and a mosaic in the shape of the guest of honor's age.
Timing
How Far Ahead to Book a Custom Balloon Installation
Give large installations three to six weeks.
A mosaic or a living-room balloon drop can usually be booked with one to two weeks' notice. Ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and anything at a hotel or event venue need three to six weeks for design, venue approvals and ordering custom balloons. December weekends, New Year's Eve, spring prom season, late-May graduations and big convention weeks fill up first.

Questions
Custom Balloon Installations in Orlando: FAQ
How much does balloon decor cost?
It depends on the piece. Our arches start at $185, garlands at $20 per foot, columns at $55, backdrops at $85 for a rental and custom installations at $450. Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures are quoted per project based on size, rigging and labor.
What is a balloon ceiling?
It's balloon decor that covers the room above your guests, built from floating helium balloons with ribbon tails, air-filled balloons suspended at mixed heights, or garlands draped from wall to wall.
What is a balloon drop?
A balloon drop releases hundreds of balloons from a net or bag overhead at a set moment, such as the New Year's countdown, a gender reveal, a grand entrance or a send-off. It happens indoors, and the balloons stay in the room.
How many balloons are needed for a balloon drop?
About 100–250 for a home or small room, and 500–1,500 or more for a dance floor or ballroom. The size of the drop area and the ceiling height set the count.
Do you have to get permission to do a balloon release?
In Florida, permission won't help: since July 1, 2024, intentionally releasing balloons outdoors is treated as littering under state law, with narrow exceptions such as weather and research balloons. An indoor balloon drop or a giant confetti balloon you pop gives you the moment without the fine.
What is a balloon mosaic?
It's a shaped frame, often a number, a letter or a heart, packed with small balloons so the shape reads like a picture made of pixels. Hosts order them most for birthdays, grad parties and anniversaries.
How long do ceiling balloons last?
Plan on 8–12 hours of good looks from a helium ceiling, which is why we install it on the event day. Air-filled overhead designs keep their shape for several days inside.
How far in advance should I book a balloon installation?
For a ceiling, a tunnel, a sculpture or anything inside a hotel or venue, reach out three to six weeks ahead. A mosaic or a drop at home usually needs one to two weeks.
Do hotels and venues allow balloon installations?
Most do, with conditions. Venues often require vendor liability insurance, set load-in and strike times, and may limit helium, tape and anything hung from the ceiling. We confirm the rules before we quote.
