The basics
What Is a Balloon Backdrop?
It's a solid backdrop surface paired with balloons, so your photo spot looks styled instead of like a bare wall.
Every balloon backdrop has two layers. The first is the surface: a printed or painted panel, a shimmer wall, a flower or hedge wall, or fabric drape. The second is a balloon garland wrapped over or around it. The surface gives you clean color behind the guest of honor; the balloons bring shape, depth and personality. Add a light-up sign, a vinyl name or marquee numbers and the backdrop becomes the centerpiece.
Backdrops and arches often get booked together: an arch or garland frames the scene and the backdrop fills it in. If you'd rather have balloons covering the whole surface with no panel behind them, that's a balloon wall.
Backdrop styles
Balloon Backdrop Styles
The panel shape sets the tone before the first balloon goes on.
Round backdrops and balloon hoops
A circular panel with a garland arcing over one side is the backdrop we set up most for birthdays and showers. The open version is a balloon hoop: a metal ring dressed with balloons and florals around part of its edge, sometimes with a sign hung in the middle. Hoops are lovely for weddings and engagement parties because the lake, the garden or the room stays visible through the ring.
Chiara (arched) backdrops
Chiaras are tall panels with a rounded top, used alone or in sets of two or three at staggered heights. They look refined and current, and they give a garland a graceful curve to follow. Angle a second chiara beside the first and the pair wraps around the dessert table.
Square and panel backdrops
A square backdrop uses a rectangular panel or frame, usually with a garland climbing one side and running across the top. Line up three panels of different heights or colors and you have a wide trio that suits a long dessert spread.
Shimmer walls with balloons
Shimmer walls, also called sequin walls, are grids of metallic squares that flutter and sparkle as air moves past. Pair one with a garland in matching or contrasting shades and the whole backdrop glows on camera, especially in the evening.
Flower, greenery and hedge wall backdrops
Silk-rose and hydrangea flower walls, greenery panels and boxwood-style hedge walls bring a garden feel. A balloon garland across a flower wall is a favorite for bridal showers, Mother's Day brunches and baptisms.
Draped and curtain backdrops
Fabric drape works for weddings, galas and school events that need a wide, soft background. String lights behind sheer fabric add a warm glow once the sun goes down.
Balloon arch backdrops and photo booths
An arch photo backdrop sets a balloon arch in front of a solid board or builds the arch right into it. It doubles as a photo booth wall: put a ring light or a booth in front, and the backdrop lands in every shot of the night.

Add-ons
Backdrop Add-Ons: Light-Up Signs, Marquee Letters, Names and Pedestals
Add-ons are what make the backdrop personal, and they're what people remember in the photos.
Light-up signs
Script signs for birthdays, baby showers, engagements and parties, or a custom sign with a name.
Custom vinyl
A name, an age, a date or a monogram applied to the panel in the color you choose.
Marquee letters and numbers
Lighted 3–4 ft letters and numbers set in front of the backdrop, often wrapped in garland.
Pedestals and cake stands
Cylinder and plinth tables in front of the panel for the cake, cupcakes and gifts.
Balloon columns
Balloon columns at either side for a wider, grander setup.
Floor balloons and bubbles
Loose clusters and a clear bubble balloon or two along the floor, so the setup doesn't end abruptly at the base.
Sizing
Balloon Backdrop Sizes and the Space They Take
Most backdrops run 6 to 8 feet wide. Leave room in front for the table and whoever's holding the phone.
| Backdrop | Size | Floor space to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Single round or chiara panel | 6–7.5 ft tall | About 8 ft wide × 6 ft deep |
| Shimmer wall | 4×7 to 8×8 ft | Its width plus 2 ft each side for garland |
| Panel trio | About 8–10 ft wide | About 12 ft wide × 7 ft deep |
| 10×10 ft backdrop | 10 ft wide × 10 ft tall | About 12 ft wide; check the ceiling |
A 10×10 ft backdrop measures 10 feet across and 10 feet high and needs a ceiling of about 11 feet or more. It suits ballrooms, halls, high-ceiling great rooms and outdoor setups better than a typical living room.

Your options
Rent the Backdrop or Have It Fully Styled?
You can rent the pieces and style them yourself, or let us build the whole scene.
| Rental | Full styling | |
|---|---|---|
| What arrives | Panels or a wall, dropped off or picked up | Backdrop, balloons, signs and styling, built on-site |
| Balloons | Optional grab-and-go garland | A custom garland built onto the backdrop |
| Your effort | You assemble and decorate | None. Walk in and start taking photos |

Can I get a backdrop without balloons? Absolutely. Shimmer walls, flower walls, hedge walls and panels can be rented on their own, and balloons can be added later if you change your mind. Rentals are handy for vacation homes in Kissimmee, Reunion and ChampionsGate, where visiting families want a party corner in the game room or by the pool without a full install.
Occasions
Balloon Backdrops for Birthdays, Showers, Weddings, Graduations and Holidays
The backdrop is usually the main photo spot, so we plan it around the guest of honor.
- Graduation backdrops: school colors, the class year in marquee numbers and a grad photo on an easel. High school grad parties peak in late May and early June.
- Birthday backdrops: first birthdays, 21st and 50th birthdays, kids' character themes and glam adult setups.
- Wedding, engagement and bridal shower backdrops: hoops, three-panel chiara sets and flower walls in soft whites, sand and blush.
- Gender reveal and sprinkle backdrops: neutral backdrops with a reveal built in, or soft pastels for showers.
- Baptism and christening backdrops: white, ivory and pale blue or pink, finished with florals.
- Sweet 16 and quinceañera backdrops: glam setups with chrome, crowns and her name lit up.
- Holiday backdrops: Christmas and winter wonderland (a favorite in a city that never sees snow), Halloween, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving.
Planning
How to Place a Backdrop So It Photographs Well
Where you put the backdrop matters more than which one you choose.
- Keep it away from windows and sliding doors. Bright Florida daylight behind the backdrop turns faces into silhouettes on a phone camera. A solid wall behind it is best.
- Watch the late-day sun outdoors. A backdrop facing west catches harsh glare in the late afternoon, so on a patio or lawn we angle it out of the sun's path.
- Leave room. Plan 5–6 feet clear in front for the table, the guests and the photographer.
- Check the ceiling. Measure before you commit to a 7 ft chiara or a 10×10 ft setup, especially in condos and older homes.
- Outdoors, think wind and rain. Backdrops catch wind like a sail. We weight the base, set it against a wall or fence, keep it shaded in summer, and pick a covered fallback spot in case an afternoon storm arrives.

Most of our arch and backdrop combinations cost $425–$750, depending on the garland length, the backdrop surface and extras like light-up signs and marquee numbers.
How big is a 10×10 ft backdrop?
Ten feet wide and ten feet tall. Plan for about 12 feet of wall width and a ceiling of roughly 11 feet or higher, so it fits ballrooms and halls better than most living rooms.
How many balloons are needed for a balloon hoop?
A garland covering a third to half of a 6–7 ft hoop usually takes about 60–120 balloons in mixed sizes. A fully wrapped hoop takes more.
Can I rent a backdrop without balloons?
Yes. Shimmer walls, flower walls, hedge walls and panel backdrops can be rented on their own, and balloons can be added later.
Can you set up a backdrop at a vacation rental?
Yes. We set up backdrops in vacation homes, condos and rental clubhouses, indoors or on a covered pool deck. Let us know the community's gate and parking rules so the crew can get in on time.
Where should the backdrop go?
Against a solid wall, away from windows and sliding doors, with 5–6 feet clear in front for a table and photos. Outdoors, choose shade and a wall or fence to block the wind.
Can you add a name or a light-up sign to the backdrop?
Yes. Custom vinyl names, ages and dates go on the panel, and lighted signs hang on the backdrop or inside a balloon hoop.
