The basics

What Is a Balloon Wall?

Picture a backdrop made entirely of balloons, usually 6 to 10 feet across, with no gaps for the room to peek through.

An arch frames a spot and a balloon garland traces a line, but a balloon wall covers the whole surface. It's built on a grid or freestanding frame, so it can stand in front of any wall, curtain or window and work as a photo backdrop, a stage background, a wall behind the cake table, or a branded step-and-repeat. For a curved frame over an entrance instead, see our balloon arches.

Square foot for square foot, nothing in balloon decor makes a bigger statement. Walls fit birthdays, weddings, grad parties, gender reveals, holiday events and corporate nights, and they photograph cleanly because the background is balloons from edge to edge.

Wall styles

Balloon Wall Styles We Build

Five approaches to a balloon wall, each with its own look and price range.

Organic balloon walls

Layer mixed balloon sizes over the entire face of the frame and you get a soft, cloud-like texture. It's the fullest, most luxurious style and the one picked most for weddings, showers and big birthdays. It also takes the most balloons, which puts it at the top of the range.

Grid and link balloon walls

Grid walls, sometimes called quick link walls, connect special linking balloons into a net so every balloon sits in an even row. That structure lets you lay out a checkerboard, a heart, stripes or a simple number. The look is graphic and sharp, ideal for brand colors and school spirit.

Framed balloon walls

A framed wall packs balloons inside a shaped frame: a rectangle, an arched chiara shape or a circle. The outline does half the design work. Arched frames feel elegant, square frames feel modern, and round frames feel playful.

Foil and mylar balloon walls

Foil walls use mylar balloons, often hearts, stars or squares in metallic finishes. They reflect light, look sharp on camera and contain no latex. That matters for guests with allergies and for the hospitals, clinics and medical offices around Lake Nona and across the metro, many of which allow foil only.

Floating and lighted balloon walls

A floating wall lines up helium balloons on ribbons in tidy rows, so it drifts gently in the air. It's striking, but it looks its best for only a few hours. Lighted walls weave LED strands or LED balloons through the design for evening parties and New Year's Eve.

Sizing

Balloon Wall Sizes and How Many Balloons Each Needs

Size the wall to the photo you want. At 8×8 ft, six to eight guests fit in a shot comfortably.

Balloon wall sizes and where they work
Wall sizeWorks forGood to know
6×6 ftCouples, small groups, a dessert-table wallFits condos, apartments and restaurant private rooms
8×8 ftGroup photos, a cake table with guestsOur most-booked size
8×10 ftStages, head tables, step-and-repeatNeeds roughly 9 ft of ceiling clearance
Custom widthsLong walls, stages, shop windowsBuilt in sections and joined on-site

A grid wall of 11-inch link balloons uses about 1.2–1.5 balloons per square foot, and an organic wall uses two to four times as many. Many downtown condos have 8 to 9 ft ceilings, while hotel ballrooms usually have room to spare, so measure before you pick. Leave 2–3 ft clear in front for photos.

Uses

How Orlando Hosts Use a Balloon Wall

A balloon wall pulls its weight because it does more than one job.

Photo wall

The selfie and group-shot spot. Add a lighted sign or a vinyl name and guests will queue up for it.

Cake and dessert table wall

Standing behind the sweets, it keeps photos clean and hides whatever's behind the table.

Stage and head-table background

Behind speeches, DJs, award presentations and wedding head tables.

Branded step-and-repeat

A grid wall in company colors with a logo panel for launches, galas and conference receptions at the big International Drive hotels.

Room divider

Hides the catering prep area, stacked chairs or a cluttered corner of a rented hall or community clubhouse.

Gender reveal moment

A neutral wall with a hidden pop panel, or a wall that flips to pink or blue on the reveal side.

Occasions

Balloon Walls for Birthdays, Weddings, Graduations and Holidays

These are the celebrations we build balloon walls for most often.

  • Birthdays: walls for kids' parties and 18th, 21st and 30th birthdays, often with the age or name built in.
  • Weddings and bridal showers: ivory, blush and champagne organic walls behind the sweetheart table or at the reception door, and garden-style shower walls for brunches in Winter Park.
  • Quinceañeras: glam walls in her colors for the banquet halls in Kissimmee and around Orlando, set where the court takes its photos.
  • Graduations and prom: grid walls in school colors with the class year, and glam walls for prom pictures.
  • Gender reveals and baby showers: neutral walls with a reveal moment, plus soft pastel walls for showers.
  • Valentine's Day: foil heart walls in red, pink and rose gold.
  • Christmas, Halloween and New Year's Eve: red, green and gold walls, orange and black walls, and black, gold and silver chrome for the countdown.
  • Corporate events: branded walls for the office parks around Lake Mary and Heathrow, plus openings, galas and conferences.

Installation

How We Install a Balloon Wall Without Touching Your Walls

The short version: nothing gets attached to your walls at all.

Each wall we build stands on its own frame with a weighted base. At home, that means no tape or glue dots peeling paint. At resort and convention hotels, where tape, nails and adhesives on walls are almost always off-limits, it keeps the venue happy. And because the wall is freestanding, it can shift a few feet on the day if the room plan changes.

  1. 1

    Measure

We confirm the wall size, ceiling height, nearby outlets for lights, and the route from the loading door to the spot.

  2. 2

    Build

Bigger walls are assembled in panels, joined in place and fluffed until the seams vanish.

  3. 3

    Finish

Signs, vinyl, foil accents and lights go on last, and we check the wall from where the photos will be taken.

What's the best way to hang balloons on a wall? Don't hang them on the wall itself; put them on a frame in front of it. If you must attach balloons directly, use removable hooks and fishing line instead of tape, and test the adhesive somewhere out of sight first.

Longevity

How Long Does a Balloon Wall Last?

Several days indoors when air-filled. A floating helium wall, only a few hours.

An air-filled organic or grid wall in a cooled room keeps its shape for several days, frequently a full week, and foil walls outlast both. Floating helium walls begin to sag within hours. Outdoors from May to October, keep the wall in shade, build it the day of the event, and have a covered spot ready in case an afternoon storm rolls in; sun and heat break down latex quickly here.

Questions

Balloon Walls in Orlando: FAQ

What is a balloon wall?

A balloon wall is a solid, freestanding surface of balloons, typically 6 to 10 feet wide, used as a photo backdrop, a stage background or a wall behind the cake table. It can be organic, grid-style, framed or made of foil balloons.

How much does a balloon wall cost?

Our foil balloon walls start at $105 for 8×5 ft, grid walls at $395 and organic walls at $595 for 8×8 ft. Size, style and add-ons set the final quote.

How long do balloon walls last?

Air-filled walls last several days indoors, often a week, and foil walls last longer. Floating helium walls last a few hours, and an outdoor wall in Orlando summer sun lasts only hours.

What size balloon wall do I need?

Most hosts pick 8×8 ft, which holds a cake table or a group shot. Go 6×6 ft for a condo or a couple's photo, and 8×10 ft or a custom width for a stage or a head table.

Will a balloon wall damage my walls?

No. Each wall sits on its own weighted frame a few inches in front of yours, and nothing sticky or sharp ever touches the paint.

What is it called when balloons are linked into a wall?

A grid wall or link wall. Special linking balloons are joined into a net, which allows rows, patterns, numbers and logos.

Can a balloon wall be latex-free?

Yes. Foil (mylar) walls contain no latex, which makes them the right choice for guests with allergies and for hospitals, clinics and venues that don't allow latex.

Can you put a name or logo on a balloon wall?

Yes. Names go on in custom vinyl or as a lighted sign, and logos go on a panel set into the wall or get built into a grid wall in brand colors.
